Mangosteens skin was very useful to retard the aging process, prevent vascular disease, and to anticancer. Well, Dr Indah Yuliasih, mangosteen researcher from the Faculty of Agricultural TechnologyBogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), giving way cultivate this skin fruit becomes a refreshing drink and delicious.
In early discussions with reporters at IPB, Thursday (02/02/2012), Indah said the process of making this nutritious beverage. First, separate the skin of the mangosteen fruit. Processing can to involve mangosteen seeds (rich in fat) or just mangosteen skin of containing the Xanthones. Use a spoon to scrape the inside of the skin who was cleaned, and separated from the hard skin of on the outside.
After that, chill in the refrigerator if it will be stored until sufficient enough. Then, mixed with ethanol and water with a ratio of 1:2 and mash with a blender. Leave it on for 24 hours, after that strain it to separate the pulp with Xanthones extracts of mangosteen skin .
Indah said :"To create a good taste, can be mixed with honey and give it a natural dye of rosella flowers extracts , and grapes or apple as a flavor enhancer,"
According to Indah, the result of Xanthones mixing with roselle and honey wich is heated with a temperature of 90-95 degrees of Celsius for 10 minutes to evaporate the ethanol. After that, chill it with the room temperature and mix with grape or apple flavor. Well, Xanthones syrup are ready to be enjoyed with the mixed water. try it please :)
